Flight of the Plastiki

2.2
DUN-DUN-DUN-DUN-DUNNN DUNNN, DUN-DUN-DUN DUNNN DUNNN, DUN-DUN-DUN DUNNNNN DUNNN, DUN-DUN-DUN DUNNNN

(Ride of the Valkyries - Richard Wagner)

David de Rothschild, a visionary in his own regard, has taken upon the Herculean effort of creating a fully functional sailboat (and how!) ENTIRELY FROM RECYCLED PLASTIC BOTTLES.

Construction of the boat is not complete. De Rothschild has named it the "Plastiki," after a Norse story about Thor sailing across the sea in a balsa boat called the Kon-Tiki.

While made 90% of recycled products, the Plastiki is still incomprehensibly AWESOME. It has solar panels built in with the intent to power the laptops of a small crew of scientists that will be accompanying De Rothschild.

De Rothschild's plan is to take the Plastiki and his crew and sail all the way from the coast of California to...

...wait for it...

...AUSTRALIA.

"The idea is to put no kind of pollution back into the atmosphere, or into our oceans for that matter, so everything on the boat will be composted," says De Rothschild.

That's right. He's awesome.

  1. WOW! That's pretty amazing, actually. I see you in this capacity not too long from now. What will become of the book when he reaches his destination?
