Mom or True Love?

If push came to shove, and you had to give up one, which would you let go, your mother or true love? Let's say bandits kidnapped both, and you could only save one... Like the movie, would you throw momma from the train and hang onto true love? Or is the bond between mother and child something that is strong enough to take you through life?

  1. When I first heard this question, the response was their mother. The reasoning? "One may always find another true love, but one's mother is irreplaceable."

This, as we will all instantly claim, is false, of course. By definition, a true love is likewise irreplaceable--there will never be another one in your life.

There is no "correct" answer to this question, and there never has been. The true question is that if this situation were to really take place, what would you do? Would you do anything at all? Could you?

  2. I believe that if I had to choose between my mother and my true love, I think that either choice would completely destroy the relationship with either person. If I chose to throw my mother off and save my true love, she would most likely get the impression that I would treat her the same way that I treat my mother, and that would probably make the relationship end.
If I chose to throw off my true love, my mother would probably still love me as a person, but not have the same respect for me that she previously had. Mothers sacrifice many things for their children, and I think that if I had to decide, I would choose to throw my true love off.

  3. If I had to choose between saving my mom or my true love, I am not sure who I would choose to save. I think I would have to save my mom because she is my mom.

  4. I would have to say I would save my mother. She is not just my mother but the mother to my brother and little sister too. She is important to more than just myself and the three of us need her as a whole.

  5. This depends upon at what point in my life this was happening. If it were now, I would choose my true love because he is the father of my children, Although I love my mother dearly she would never want to see her grandchildren hurting because they lost their father so early in life. However, if I were still growing up, I would choose my mother because she would be irreplaceable to me and my brother at that time. Ironically a similar reason for choosing my true love later in life.

  6. Now, I would choose my mother because she is no longer alive...easy huh? When she was still alive I would have to give up Donnie Beaudin, 1. because he's like McGuyver and could probably save himself, and 2. if my own kids read this, I want them to pick me:)
